- The Quality Team, which sits within the Governance Team of Operational Excellence Delivery, has clear objectives to support and deliver Quality Improvement Initiatives in partnership with Operational Excellence Supply Sites.
- The Analytical & Sensory Services Team, within the Governance team, provides an Analytical & Sensory Service in beer and mainstream spirits to support the Global Quality Monitoring Program, Liquid/Process & Package Change Projects.
- This role as Brand Technical Equity Analyst will support the team in undertaking various analytical and sensory-based projects, and will also support the delivery of the laboratory service to meet Service Level Agreements.
- The Instrumentation Specialist aspect of the role is key to leading and driving analytical method development, and improvements in analytical capability within the Analytical and Sensory Services Team, as well as our OpEx Delivery partner sites.
Purpose of the Role
The Brand Technical Equity Analyst - Instrumentation specialist role includes the following responsibilities:
-Carry out responsibilities in accordance with the Safety, Health and Welfare at work Act 2005, and to implement appropriate safety procedures in the Laboratory
-Carry out method development on and calibration of analytical instruments such as GC-MS, GC, HPLC, IC
-Perform maintenance and troubleshooting of issues on these instruments.
-Carry out brewing analysis of all Routine and Project/Trial samples to support the Global Quality Monitoring Program and various projects (both within OpEx and at site level). Analysis will include, but is not limited, to ABV, OG, PG, Colour, Turbidity, Haze, CO2, Acidity, pH, Bitterness, Diacetyl, Head Retention etc.
-Supporting overseas production sites with queries related analytical issues and troubleshooting.
-On-site support visits to overseas breweries to deliver specific objectives (e.g. training, lab development, implementation of DWB and Spirits standards).
-Logging of Samples onto the Laboratory LIMS System (Unilab)
-Monitoring of SLAs, calculation/reporting of KPIs and the management of samples to ensure that SLAs and KPIs are met.
-Ensuring the delivery of Laboratory Validation, Calibration and Maintenance Programs
Qualifications and Experience Required
-Post graduate qualification in analytical chemistry, or related discipline
-3 years experience working in an Analytical Laboratory, with experience working in a Brewing or Spirits Environment a distinct advantage
-Experience working with analytical instrumentation such as GC, HPLC and Mass Spectrometry, with a proven track record of method development and troubleshooting these instruments.
-Completed, or working towards completion of, the IBD Diploma in Brewing would be an advantage
-A good knowledge of laboratory systems and processes, with particular emphasis on Laboratory LIMS systems
-Ability to travel to Africa for short assignments supporting operations at wholly-owned sites
-Excellent time management, influencing and communication skills essential
-Accurate, reliable individual with strong attention to detail
-Strong commitment to own development and continuous learning
-Proficient in the use of MS Office especially MS Excel
