The Role
As a Distillery Operator, you will work a 3 shift pattern totalling 216 shifts per year.
- Operating Computer based system to control and monitor all site process and ancillary activities

- Leading a range of activities ensuring targets are met relating to quality, efficiency, energy and cost

- Full compliance with all statutory regulations and Diageo procedures relating to site Risk, HMRC + Environmental constraints

- Mobility across sites and the flexibility to adapt working patterns at short notice

Top Accountabilities
- Ensuring safety is maintained at all times on site

- Deliver efficient production of New Make Grain Spirit (future whisky)

- Organising + prioritising production operations

- Controlling, monitoring and optimising all production processes (PC based control system) to maximise performance, fully compling with all legal requirements + Diageo standards

- Responding appropriately to a range of breakdown, accident or emergency situations (including initial contact with emergency services)

- Team communication to ensure effective site operations both during and across shifts

- Liaise with suppliers to plan + co-ordinate raw materials to match production requirements

The Person
We are looking for someone who has experience working within a continuous process environment and has the ability to understand and own their KPI's and plan work accordingly. The individual needs to possess world class manufacturing excellence techniques and be comfortable leading Daily Operational Reviews, RCPS, + Operational Planning
The person must have effective decision-making + problem solving skills effectively used within a team to deliver site, business and brand objectives. It's vital that you have the ability to understand and embrace change
And finally, we are looking for someone who is self-motivated + seeks opportunities for how the team + business can improve
Qualifications and Experience Required
- Technical /Science Qualification (may consider standard grade passes in English, Maths, Science subjects) or equivalent industry experience

- Experience of plant/process operations e.g. distilling/malting's/brewing/food manufacture/petrochemical/pharmaceutical

- Working knowledge + understanding of H&S, HMRC + environmental risk management principles, including all relevant legislation

- Working knowledge + understanding of PC + paper business systems

- Full driving licence

- Completed or actively participating in external technical training programme e.g. Institute of Brewing & Distilling diploma is highly desirable

- Recognised safety qualification e.g. Nebosh

- Ability to compile and review work instructions, risk assessments and isolation schedules

- Awareness of Forward Incident Control responsibilities

- Fork Lift Truck licence

- Knowledge of Planning and scheduling systems e.g.SAP
