HEINEKEN STAR PUBS Graduate Programme - Estate Management - London Area

Starting September 2019

Looking to get your first foot up on the Property CAREER Ladder?

Look no further than our HEINEKEN Star Pubs & Bars Real Estate Graduate Programme starting September 2019

Base: £27,500 plus terrific benefits (35 days holiday, Bupa and double matched pension just to name just a few)

At HEINEKEN we're proud to be a truly international company. With a fantastic portfolio of beers and ciders on offer, you might have already enjoyed a refreshing HEINEKEN brand without even knowing it - we brew Heineken®, Desperados, Strongbow, Amstel and Bulmers to name just a few…

As well as brewing, we've also recently become the UK's 3rd largest pub company. HEINEKEN has a long-held belief that pubs are an integral part of British culture and that well invested pubs run by skilled operators can prosper and thrive. We're a passionate supporter of the Great British Pub and have invested more than £100m in our pubs over the past 5 years, with a lot more investment to come. That is why our Estate Management graduate programme is so exciting!

If you are on course to pass your property or real estate degree, with solid work experience (weekend/evening jobs) undertaken during your studies, then we think you'll be ready to join our property team.

In this role you will be regionally based, working within a team managing some of our Star Pubs portfolio of approximately 3000 pubs and associated unlicensed premises. This involves all aspects of Landlord and Tenant work, including valuations for leasehold rent reviews, head lease rent reviews, tenancy and lease renewals, disposals and investments. Your development throughout the programme will be varied as you gain exposure from a number of live projects. You could be visiting an historic pub for a rent review one day, dealing with an excess land sale the next. You could then be involved in negotiating rights of access or resolving boundary disputes.

You'll have day to day contact with our regional team of Estate Managers, Property Managers and Business Development Managers - with everyone supporting our licensees as we develop their pubs into being the best that they can be.

We'll also put in place structured training to help prepare you for sitting the RICS Assessment of Professional Competence (APC.) We have successfully supported a number of colleagues to achieve this through APC mock interviews and presentation training.

Please consider present and future mobility when applying - for the graduate programme period you will be home based with a supportive network of fellow estates professionals at your call - and the Head of Estates as your direct mentor. This role is not 9-5 and there will be overnight travel required as you attend regional meetings and visit our pubs/projects. Once you've completed the graduate programme you would be in a prime position to take a future Star Pub Estates Manager role on - this could be in any UK region so flexibility and a sense of adventure must be part of your DNA!

Next Steps

If this sounds like a journey you'd like to join, we'd love to hear from you.

Passion is one of our core values so we'd like you to answer the question below which will indicate to us that you're really interested in HEINEKEN STAR PUBS - and give us a flavour of your thought process.

Rather than sending a standard covering letter, please have a shot at answering this hypothetical question instead!

You agreed a deal to lease a city centre pub some time ago, and the lessee was expecting to open for trading before the bank holiday in two weeks. The legal documentation has not yet been completed, with solicitors on both sides blaming each other and the lessee for not providing documents. What steps would YOU take to move the matter forward and complete before the bank holiday?

We look forward to reading your possible solutions - please don't send us war and peace - we believe in Keeping It Simple!

Once applications are all in we'll select those moving to the next stage - which will be a video interview. That can be a fun process! Following that, successful candidates will be invited to attend a networking evening and assessment day in London on November 13th. Decisions will be made in December. Please note that you must be eligible to work in the UK without requiring sponsorship.

Closing date: Sunday 7th October
