The Commercial Insights Manager is an exciting position within the Diageo Customer Marketing team focused on both developing predictive Shopper Insights and supporting the Category Management and customer teams. Primary responsibility is ongoing development of Shopper Insights for the entire Diageo team with an objective to better understand Off Premise Shopper and On Premise Drinker behavior now and in the future. This role has great potential for business development and high-level exposure, with the breadth of responsibilities ranging from category development fundamentals to co-developing insights used to create in-store and On Premise merchandising solutions with customers.

Key Outputs/Deliverables

- Development of Hypotheses, Research Plans and Synthesis of all shopper insights, with a focus on predicting future opportunities

- Development and communication of outputs ensuring key opportunities are identified and actioned with customer/sales teams

- Development of understanding of changing commercial landscape: ecommerce, cannabis, grocery, central assortment planning, etc.

- Work with customer marketing teams on distilling and including as part of BTL plans including opportunity quantification for shopper marketing platforms and programs

- Delivery of Insights to support standard category management practices: shelf management, promotion planning/analysis, pricing understanding and impact on category, and business development projects

- Provide general support and recommendations to all stakeholders during annual business planning process

Management Responsibility

- Responsible for management of Insights research and projects including vendor/agency management when appropriate

- Responsible for compiling and effectively communicating pertinent results and distilling opportunities with appropriate actions to key stakeholders

- Decisions are guided by policies, procedures and business plan; receives guidance from Director

Financial Responsibility

- Responsible for external vendor/agency cost management for assigned projects

- Responsible for assigned Travel and Expense budget

- Responsible for tracking, documenting and publishing results of Insights-led Category Management initiatives to drive execution opportunities with customers


- University degree or equivalent work experience required

- Minimum 3 to 5 years relevant experience required, preferably Category Management experience in CPG or Beverage Category

- Strong technical experience with advanced analytic and software skills relevant to Shopper Research/Category Management function

- Strong presentation/communication skills (Written and Verbal)

- Proven track record of success in creative thinking, project management, functional/technical skills, decision quality, problem solving and business acumen
