The Area Manager manages all aspects of the assigned territory, by leading their team (within Edrington Americas and the distributors/brokers), to deliver short-term results and build long-term brand value. Key pillars of the position include: Broker Management, Brand Building, Pricing Management, Profit & Loss Management, Supply Chain & Compliance and Coaching & Mentoring. Success in the position will deliver against defined annual P&L goals and continued exceptional growth of the Edrington brands, including The Macallan, Highland Park, The Famous Grouse, Naked Grouse, Glenrothes, Wyoming Whiskey, Cutty Sark, Brugal Rum, Partida and Snow Leopard Vodka. The Area Manager will also play a key role, acting as State Lead and work in close collaboration with the respective broker partners to shape the business in their territory.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead the implementation of the strategic direction for the assigned territory across all channels and segments.
- Clearly communicate Edrington priorities and strategic direction to Broker Sales Teams. Instil belief and create buy-in throughout broker teams.
- Work effectively with the Division Marketing and Operations teams to deliver against the strategic imperatives of the organization, and to deliver exceptional in-market results.
- Ensure optimal allocation of Edrington resources against portfolio brand standards within the assigned territory.
- Implement Edrington retail merchandising standards.
- Drive a leading global luxury brand to deliver yearly profit growth, and simultaneously grow brand equity.
- Accelerate growth of both the highly acclaimed and lesser known brands.
- Cultivate new opportunities for a strong core business and roll-out innovations.
- Support the continued evolution of the Edrington Americas business to develop gold-standard organizational capabilities.
- Assist in building Edrington Americas' reputation as a recognized leader in the beverage industry by key stakeholders.
- Broker Management : Build exceptional business relationships, drive brand focus, manage performance & delivery, and provide leading customer service.
- Brand Building : Challenge the status-quo and put the consumer at the heart of the conversation, oversee the planning and execution of the local marketing plans, support all nationally lead activities at the local level, act as an unwavering brand guardian.
- Pricing Management : Oversee the implementation and execution of the local pricing and programming strategies.
- P&L Management : Deliver against depletion targets, grow brand value, manage A&P, and additional local marketing investments to deliver the annual profit plan within the territory.
- Supply Chain & Compliance : Deliver against the allocation strategy, supporting exceptional customer service, and ensure legal compliance across the assigned territory.
People Leader Responsibilities:

- Coaching & Mentoring: Provides formal and informal feedback to team members, sets an example.
- Motivates and stretches teams through regular 1:1s with direct reports to discuss performance and development, formally and informally managing employee performance.
- Ensures alignment and delivery of work with regular team meetings to discuss performance and priorities.
- Manages employee grievance and disciplinary issues, as required, with HR support.
- Facilitates employee career development through continuous career conversations and on-going coaching, leading annual talent and succession processes for the team.
- Ensures pay for performance culture is fully utilized through rewarding high performance and communicating Edrington's reward philosophy to team members so that they understand grading, financial and non-financial compensation. Knowledge, Skills & Core Competencies Required
- Bachelor's Degree required
- 3+ years of sales and marketing management experience required, Beverage Alcohol Industry experience is preferred
- Distributor/Broker management experience is highly desirable
- Control State experience is desired, especially PA and/or NH
- Understanding of On/Off premise and 3 tier system, preferred
- Working knowledge of syndicated data (Nielsen, IRI, Diver, VIP)
- Strong understanding of marketing strategy and mix
- Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Ability to analyse complex business issues and make decisions that drive success
- Ability to communicate effectively both internally and externally, and at all levels of the organization
- Required travel up to 30% or as needed to perform job function
- Must live in the eastern Philadelphia area
- Valid driver's license
- Eligible to work in the US
